RAWALPINDI, Feb 13: Robbers killed a security guard in the National Bank Sihala branch and looted Rs9.5 million and a huge quantity of gold jewellery in the wee hours of Sunday, police said.

The bank manager, Mohammad Mehmood Abbasi, lodged an FIR with the Sihala police, stating that security guard Asghar Ali told him on the phone at around 7am on Sunday that he had found the door of the bank and the safe broken and the night guard Mohammad Rafiq missing.

He said on reaching the bank he found the door of the safe opened while the body of the night guard was lying in the toilet. The security guard was ruthlessly stabbed by the robbers after tying his hands and legs.

The police said the value of the looted cash was yet to be ascertained.
