ISLAMABAD, Feb 11: Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Yusuf on Friday denied reports that he was being sidelined and being replaced by a stronger administrator to effectively control law and order in the province.

Talking to newsmen after a meeting on rain devastation's in Balochistan at the residence of PML chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, he said he had briefed President Gen Pervez Musharraf on the Balochistan situation and requested him more efforts from the centre to maintain peace.

He was confident about staying as chief executive of Balochistan. About reports of heavy arms smuggling from Afghanistan, he said: "It is a long porous border and not possible to control fully."

He, however, said that the federal government has to do lot more to provide security to the province against disturbance and infiltration. Replying to a query, he said PML secretary general Mushahid Hussain Syed was heading the political process to get things right and hoped the parliamentary committee, under the chairmanship of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, would do the needful.
