IM Lodhi emerges sole leader

KARACHI, Feb 4: International Master (IM) Mahmood Ahmed Lodhi emerged as the sole leader in the Friendship House open chess championship beating Muhammad Waqar in the fifth round on Thursday.

Another IM Shahzad Mirza after defeat in the fourth round picked up his game to beat Faraz Salim. In the other 'A' category matches Rahat Ali beat Aziz Farooqi, Haseeb Ahmed beat Sabir Khan, R A Nazim beat Imtiaz Ahmed, Shakeel Iqbal beat Tafseer Ahmed, Nouman Mustufa beat Shahbab Ahmed and Khalid Zafar beat Imtiazul Haq.

In the category 'B' Wahab Ahmed maintained his winning streak with fifth victory while Awwad Shahzad is leading in 'C' category.
