BAHAWALPUR, Feb 2: The local chemists and druggists observed a partial strike and organized a protest demonstration on Wednesday in front of the Bahawal Victoria Hospital against the poor law and order situation in the country.

The strike was observed following the call of wholesale chemist council, Pakistan chemist and druggist association, Pakistan distributors association and Pakistan retailers association.

Medical stores in front of the Bahawalpur Victoria Hospital and in all local bazaars remained closed for a few hours causing inconvenience to emergency patients. The chemists were holding banners inscribed with slogans against police.

VEHARI: The local medical store owners on Wednesday observed strike here while dozens of shopkeepers took out a protest procession against the rising incidence of robberies in southern Punjab.

The procession was led by district chemist association president Chaudhry Aslam Faisal and other office-bearers, including Ghulam Rasool, Naved Qureshi, Malik Tariq and Arshad Bhatti.

They took a round of main roads and dispersed in front of the Vehari press club. The speakers condemned the dacoity incidents at chemists' shops and demanded immediate arrest of the accused in Multan dacoity case.
