Briefing on construction of dams

Published February 2, 2005

ISLAMABAD, Feb 1: The Technical Committee on Water Resources (TCWR) will try to reach consensus on the construction of dams and distribution of water on Thursday, says TCWR chairman A.N.G. Abbasi.

The chairman told reporters after the first day of the TCWR's eighth three-day session here on Tuesday that the meeting had discussed Wapda's presentation on the construction of dams and some members had sought various clarifications about the presentation.

He said the committee would examine facts and figures provided by the Indus River System Authority on the distribution of water and deliberate on the terms of reference on Thursday so as to give a final shape to the recommendations for submission to the president and the prime minister.
