QUETTA, Jan 30: Water Resources Committee Chairman Senator Nasir Memon has said the government will formulate a policy on water issue after receiving reports of the technical and political committees.

Speaking at a press conference at the PML secretariat here on Sunday, he said President Gen Pervez Musharraf would take a decision on the water issue once the two committees finalized their proposals.

Mr Memon said that all issues should be resolved politically because violence would destabilize the political system and weaken democratic institutions. He asserted that deployment of troops in Sui was aimed at protecting national assets which was the responsibility of the government.

Replying to a question, he said the government was making concerted efforts to resolve the issue of provincial autonomy and the government had constituted two parliamentary committees for recommendations to find a solution within the parameters of the constitution.
