KARACHI, Jan 30: Philatelists flocked to the "Pakistan-Iran Stamps Exhibition 2005" at the cultural centre of Iran on Sunday. The eight-day exhibition was opened by Sindh home minister Rauf Siddiqui on Saturday.

The exhibition, which is being held on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, has been jointly organized by the Iran Philatelic Bureau and the Stamp Society of Pakistan.

Apart from the collections of Karim Bawani, Rafiq Kasbati, Mohammad Ali Jahangir and Arif Balgamwala, stamps from Iran are also on display. At least 14 stamps on Imam Khomeini which were prepared by the Security and Printing Press of Pakistan and donated to Iran are also part of the exhibition.

Stamps on Iran and Russia, cats of Iran, fish of Iran and other themes are also on display. There are stamps of the pre-Revolution which were used subsequently after crossing out the pictures of Reza Shah Pehlavi. Stamps on Ali Shariati, Ayatollah Tabatabee and Motahrri also drew crowds.
