ISLAMABAD, Jan 25: The Pakistan Educational Research Network (PERN), established under the HEC, has started delivering services to both public and private sector universities, said a statement on Tuesday.

These services include Access to international internet bandwidth, access to over 17,000 scientific journals, four or more public IP addresses for use by universities, broadband link to universities and infrastructure for point-to-point video conferencing.

PERN now also offers video conferencing reflector for multi- point desktop video-conferencing and community of interest content generation and sharing system along with discussion forums.

It plans to broadcast quality video lectures and web streaming service, multi-point video conferencing with international researchers, centralized and distributed content servers for information sharing, computer and test equipment resource sharing across universities.
