RAWALPINDI, Jan 25: A school-girl was killed after being hit by a bullet "accidentally" fired by her younger brother in Rawat, while a man was killed in a road accident in Raja Bazaar on Tuesday.

Police said Arsalan was playing with the pistol of his father when a shot accidentally fired by him hit his elder sister Rabia Bibi, a Class 8 student, in the head. Police termed the death accidental.

Mohammad Ashraf was going towards Gowalmandi in Raja Bazaar when a pick-up (MA-4870) driven by Maqsood knocked him down. The driver was arrested by the city police. Meanwhile, a woman attempted suicide by jumping into Rawal Lake on Tuesday.

Police said Zahida Parveen, 25, was rescued by divers shortly after she jumped into the lake. She was taken to a hospital where she was stated to be in a stable condition.
