KOHAT, May 28: The Kohat police foiled an attempt to smuggle 145kg of charas into Punjab from Gurguro Gandao, 70km south-east from here and arrested two persons who had safely passed through at least 13 police and ANF check points on Monday night, police sources said.

The police also impounded the truck with two fake registration numbers LEG 4950 and LEM 1668 in which the consignment was brought to the border area for onward transportation to Punjab on boat.

Those arrested were identified as: Mohibur Rehman, resident of Alpuri and Aslam Khan of Shangla district.

The price of the consignment in Punjab is estimated at Rs 1.3 million.

This is the third major seizure in a fortnight. Earlier, the police had recovered 200kg of charas which was being smuggled to Rawalpindi from Darra through Kohat.
