KOHAT, May 28: A minor girl was killed after struck by lightning in college town as thunderstorm and heavy rain hit large parts of Hangu and Kohat districts on Monday evening.

The identity of the girl who died instantly could not be ascertained. The gusty winds which started blowing at noon followed regular power breakdowns in various parts of the city and in the afternoon power supply broke down in Kohat.

Wapda was able to identify the fault in the grid at 7.30pm which was removed at 8.15pm. It was the second hottest day experienced by consumers and without electricity from early Sunday.

Power remained suspended from 7am to 3pm and between 6.30pm 9.15pm which resulted in acute water shortage in the area.
