KARACHI, Jan 19: The coordination committee of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement has said that it had been taken into confidence by the government on the Balochistan issue , and it had been assured at every level that no military operation would be launched to deal with the situation there.

Clarifying its position with regard to the federal cabinet meeting on the Balochistan issue on Tuesday, it said the MQM's parliamentary leader had taken a principled stand against military operation, and had called for a negotiated settlement.

The coordination committee was commenting on the information minister's remarks that all decisions pertaining to Balochistan situation were taken after taking the MQM into confidence.
