ISLAMABAD, Jan 18: The sub-committee of the Senate Standing Committee on Interior, Narcotics Control and States and Frontier Regions here on Tuesday constituted a committee for purchase of land on the outskirts of the capital for the National Assembly Employees Cooperative Housing Society (NA-ECHS) to enable it to provide plots to its members.

A meeting in this regard was held at the parliament house that was presided over by Senator Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan. The meeting stressed the need for a strict enforcement of cooperative society law and decided not to record the statements of those employees who had reported allegations against the members of the ex-management committee of NA-ECHS because, it observed, the applications forwarded by the complainants had not levelled any specific charges against any individual or society's management.

The committee, which would acquire the land, includes Senators Prof Mohammad Ibrahim Khan, Tahira Latif, Gulshan Saeed, Secretary Committee, Chiragh Din and Assistant Commissioner, Saeed Ramzan.

The committee was given a detailed overview of the actions taken by the Islamabad administration to rectify the irregularities committed by the ex-management of the NA-ECHS. The administration of the society apprised the committee of the status of casual and regular members of the society.

The sub-committee noted that the list of members provided by the administration and the ex-management of the society differed. It, therefore, directed both the sides to sit together, tally their respective lists, and prepare a new list of members eligible for allotment of plots.
