LANDI KOTAL, Jan 18: Zakhakhel tribesmen in the Bukarh area of the remote Tirah valley have got the work on a road leading to the valley stopped by occupying the construction site.

According to reports reaching from the area, the Bukarh residents were demanding their share in the allocation of development schemes in their area. A portion of the 70-kilometre-long Zakhakhel road passes through Bukarh village. Armed men are reported to have occupied the construction site.

Officials in Landi Kotal alleged that some elders of the Zakhakhel tribe were instigating the Bukarh residents to stop the construction work. They said that the residents were duly compensated and a school and a health unit had already been established in the locality.
