GUJRANWALA, Jan 17: Manufacturers are facing loss due to suspension of gas supply to industrial units which is affecting the national economy.

This was stated by Gujranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Asad Elahi while speaking at a meeting held here on Monday.

He said the industrial units, including drug manufacturing factories, textile mills and CNG stations were suffering badly due to suspension and low pressure of gas in the Punjab. The participants expressed their apprehension that many small units would close their operation shortly if the crisis continued.

They urged the federal government to ensure the restoration of gas supply to industrial units and houses after repairing purification plants in Sui, Balochistan immediately. They suggested that the Balochistan issue should be settled on political basis through negotiations.

BAHAWALPUR: Citizens in general and housewives in particular were being hit by low gas pressure in the city for the second day on Monday. Reports said during peak hours in the morning, at noon and evening, housewives had to face a great deal of inconvenience for cooking.

Although the regional gas office has not notified load shedding in the city, consumers are facing low pressure, which, according to some officials, will continue for next few days.
