PESHAWAR: Three die in accidents

PESHAWAR, Jan 17: Three persons were killed in separate road accidents in the city, while some unknown armed persons snatched a car from a person in Hayatabad Township here on Monday, police said.

In a hit-and-run incident, Khwaja Faqir, who had been strolling along with his friend Sahar Gul on Jamrud Road, was hit by a car, killing him on the spot. A passenger van ran over nine-year-old Salman on Kohat Road in Badhber area. Police arrested the driver of the van, Asif.

Meanwhile, Taj Alam, a resident of Gulbahar, who had been hit by a car near Gulbahar Chowk on Sunday died in the Lady Reading Hospital on Monday. Some unknown armed persons snatched a car at gunpoint from Sahibzada Mohammad Yaqoob on the main road in Phase-III of Hayatabad Township. Police are investigating the cases.
