GUJRANWALA, Jan 16: The corrupt officials will not be spared while problems being faced by the business community regarding income tax matters will be solved on a priority basis.

This was stated by income tax commissioner Anwar Ahmad while speaking at a meeting of businessmen here on Sunday. He said the business community was playing an important role in strengthening the national economy and it was the responsibility of the government functionaries to provide better facilities to them.

The commissioner assured them that the corrupt officials who used to harass traders on various pretexts would be taken to task. He expressed the hope that they would feel convenient following establishment of a taxpayers office here. Earlier, the traders and industrialists apprised him about problems regarding tax.

SUICIDE: A woman committed suicide by taking poison over a domestic issue in Baghbanpura here on Sunday. Reports said Sughran Bibi quarrelled with her husband Muhammad Aslam over a monetary issue and later consumed poison. She died on the spot.

BLACK DAY: The Pakistan Medical Association on Sunday observed black day against the rape of a lady doctor in Sui area, Balochistan. Wearing black armbands, the doctors condemned the incident and demanded that security be provided to the victim during judicial inquiry.
