LAHORE, Jan 15: Jamaat-i-Islami amir and MMA president Qazi Husain Ahmad has said military was preparing for an operation in Balochistan that might spread to other tribal areas of Pakistan.

He was speaking at the concluding session of a training at Mansoora here on Saturday. The Qazi said Gen Musharraf was hurling threats of military operation that could not solve political issues.

It was not in the power of military rulers to settle the issues through dialogue. Since the government had failed to solve the issue, it should resign, he demanded.

He said Gen Musharraf was sympathiser of America and most of his policies were against the national interest and Islam. Unrest prevailed in the country. Capitalism was more strong in Pakistan than Britain where the people enjoyed all rights.

Unemployment allowance was being given to the jobless by the British government, while in Pakistan the "tyrannical economic system has made the rich, richer, and the poor, poorer."

Replying to questions of the trainees the Jamaat amir said without military uniform Musharraf would become a 'used cartridge.' He has no support of the people. He said Urdu should be made medium of instruction in all educational institutions.

English medium of instruction had made the country backward. "We are not against seeking education in English but we are against making it an official language." Referring to the 17th constitutional amendment, he said it clearly stated that the president would not keep the office of COAS after Dec 31. The general had backed out his promise, he added. Jamaat secretary general Syed Munawwar Hasan also addressed.
