KARACHI, Jan. 14: Federal Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad on Friday claimed that no operation was going on in Balochistan. But he warned that if anyone tried to violate the law, the law would take its course.

Talking to journalists after a function organized by the CPNE at a local hotel on Friday to launch its "Press Freedom Monitoring Desk", he said if anyone opened fire on the army, he should not expect to be presented bouquets. He said there was no need to go into details as to who was involved in creating trouble.

He said those involved in a doctor's rape would not be spared. Likewise, no-one would be allowed to take political mileage out of the incident. "The army has been sent to Balochistan to guard sensitive installations and not to launch any operation," he claimed.

Replying to a question, he said the parliamentary committee formed to address the grievances of Balochistan province had not abandoned its work and was still preparing its report.

He said the situation in Wana was normal and people were extending full cooperation to the authorities. He said President Musharraf would soon undertake a tour of Sindh to dispel the apprehensions of its people about the Kalabagh dam.
