BAHAWALPUR, Jan 14: An honorary game warden and his four companions were arrested on the charge of poaching and firing at game department's officials and Rangers in Cholistan on Thursday.

According to reports received here on Friday, Inspector Ajmal and his subordinates, with help of Rangers, caught honorary game warden Ahmad Khan, who belongs to Lodhran district, and his companions Mukhtar, Gulzar, Imtiaz and Ahmad Nawaz red handed.

The accused opened fire on the officials injuring Inspector Ajmal and Rangers' Constable Muhammad Iqbal. The inspector was shifted from Yazman hospital to Bahawal Victoria Hospital here due to serious injuries.

Later, the alleged poachers were arrested with the help of personnel of intelligence agencies. One of them is stated to be the brother of an MPA. The others are also influential people of Lodhran and Bahawalpur districts.

Yazman police recovered three guns, searchlights from their possession, impounded their jeep (BRC-8100) and registered a case against them.
