PESHAWAR, Jan 13: Shamim Iftikhar, wife of the NWFP governor, inaugurated a three-day exhibition of handicrafts organized by the All Pakistan Women's Association (Apwa) here on Thursday.

The hand-knitted clothes, embroidery, ornaments with precious and semi-precious stones as well as wooden articles prepared by the skilled women were displayed at the Apwa house.

Shamim Iftikhar said that such exhibitions would not only help promote culture but also increase economic activities throughout the province. She hoped that the practice would continue in future too and the women entrepreneurs especially engaged in the economic activities would be encouraged.

Mrs Iftikhar who was accompanied by Zari Sarfaraz, provincial chairperson of Apwa and other office-bearers of the NWFP Chapter of All Pakistan Women Association visited different stalls and took keen interest in the products displayed there.

Mrs Iftikhar said that womenfolk of the province would become in a better position to contribute significantly in the national development and would prove helpful in sharing the financial responsibility of their respective families.
