Junaid bowls Lahore Eagles to victory

KARACHI, Jan 9: Pace man Junaid Zia snapped-up five wickets to bowl Lahore Eagles to an exciting two wickets win over Multan Tigers in inaugural Cup One-Day Cricket Tournament at UBL Sports Complex Sunday.

Lanky fast medium bowler Junaid, who played four one-day internationals for Pakistan, finished with figures of five for 53 in nine over as Multan Taigers sent to bat first were dismissed for 224 in exactly 45 overs.

Fellow pacer Waasq Ahmed chipped in with two for 49. Opener Saeed Anwar Junior hit 58 with five hits to the ropes and Muhammad Ali Niazi got a quick fire 51 off 48 deliveries with five 4s and brace of 6s.

Lahore Eagles reached the target with two balls to spare for the loss of Eight wickets. Aamir Sajjad slammed a fighting 52 in 70s with four boundaries. Medium pacer Muhammad Irshad was pick of Multan bowling attack with three wickets for 40 runs in nine overs.
