KARACHI, Dec 31: Sindh Minister for Labour, Transport and Industries Mohammad Adil Siddiqui, presiding over a high-level meeting on Friday, sought the performance report of all the departments of his ministry.

Addressing heads of various departments, the minister directed them to review the performance of their respective departments during 2004 and identify the flaws so that the same could be removed during the next year.

He also directed them to ensure early completion of all ongoing projects. Mr Siddiqui also called report from the concerned departments on the projects having bottlenecks so that corrective measures could be taken immediately.

The minister asked for details about the fulfilment on the commitments he had made at the time of taking over the ministry, and told the officials to identify problems, if any, in this regard.

He said that education cess, social security, workers welfare board, directorate of manpower and training, as well as other relevant departments should make their welfare projects more active.

He also told the officials that the workers welfare board should immediately initiate construction of schools and establishment of new dispensaries and training centres.

The minister warned that he would not tolerate any excuses in this regard. Mr Siddiqui specifically directed them to reactivate transport department in order to ensure better facilities for people. -APP
