LAHORE, Dec 31: Special police force was deployed in various parts of the city on the New Year's eve on Friday night to prevent any untoward incident.

The police pickets in groups of four and five stood guard at public places like the Liberty Market, Fortress and The Mall, which are the favourite spots for revellers.

Besides, patrol squads were also asked to perform their duty at such places in the city. A police source said the patrol squads had been directed not to stop the revellers unless they created law and order problem. Revellers in large numbers were seen on city roads waiting for the clock to strike 12. No untoward incident took place till last reports came in.
