WANA, Dec 29: The brother of Pakistan's Ambassador to Qatar and a close friend of Afghan President Hamid Karzai was gunned down by unidentified terrorists in Wana, South Waziristan tribal region, on Wednesday morning.

Shah Alam Khan was the elder brother of Ambassador Mohammad Ayaz. Mr Alam was also a local leader of the Pakhtoonkhwa Milli Awami party. His car was ambushed while he was going to the main market from his home.

Witnesses said the terrorists ambushed the car in front of the Wana Radio Station, inside the Scouts camp. They said the attackers sprayed Mr Alam's car with bullets and escaped in a white car.

Mr Alam received multiple injuries, but his driver survived the attack. He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition but died while being shifted to Peshawar.
