ISLAMABAD, Dec 28: Pakistan Army used live ammunition and battle-field tactical manoeuvres on Tuesday in final stages of the Zarb-i-Kaleem exercise being conducted at Tilla Range, some 130 kilometres south of Islamabad.

According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the exercise provided an opportunity to critically test and evaluate the performance of officers, soldiers, units and weapons systems.

Senior military officers, including Corps Commander of Mangla Lt-Gen Javed Alam Khan and General Officer Commanding (GOC) Maj-Gen Shahid Alam witnessed the exercise after Brigade Commander, Brigadier Liaquat apprised them about the objectives of the exercise.

In the battle field simulation, the enemy posts represented by white flags, were targeted by artillery and infantry units. The ISPR said the exercise was part of routine training aimed to test battle readiness of the troops under extreme conditions. The biannual military exercise, Zarb-i-Kaleem, started two months ago and would come to an end before Sunday.
