LAHORE, Dec 23: The elections of the Pakistan Table Tennis Federation (PTTF) will be held on Feb 2 next year. This was stated by S.H.Shah, president, PTTF at a news conference on Thursday.

The PTTF official said the elections were being held according to the constitution of the body and some elements have created confusion by announcing elections on Dec 26 at Karachi.

"It is an illegal and unconstitutional general council meeting which aims at disrupting the smooth working of the national federation," he said. Shah said a bunch of selfish individuals were trying to split the body the way they tried to do in the past but their all such efforts ended in a failure as they were not supported by the affiliated units of the national federation.

"PTTF condemn all such acts and will continue to function under its constitution and will once again foil their efforts," he maintained. He said his daughter Tania Malik who is a former national champion will be a candidate of presidentship during the February elections.

"She is the first ever Pakistani lady contesting for the post of president in any national federation," he said. Shah clarified that he did not summon the Dec 26 General council meeting and PTFF has already fixed the elections in February. Tania said she has come forward to contest the elections to serve the game with a new vision specially promoting the game among women. -APP
