FAISALABAD, Dec 22: Students of the Punjab Medical College blocked traffic in front of the campus in protest against the police for its failure to reach the spot in time where a truck hit two students here on Tuesday night.

The speeding truck hit and injured seriously two PMC students Ali Akram and Naveed Durrani when they tried to cross the road. The students blocked traffic and started chanting slogans against the police who reached there one hour after the incident. The protesting students demanded of the district government to construct an underpass in front of the PMC to save the students from road accidents.

FREED: The local police on Tuesday night freed four PPP leaders, including an MPA, who were rounded up when they tried to leave for Islamabad. MPA Asghar Ali Qaisar, former MNA Mehr Abdul Rashid, Tandlianwala tehsil president Maqbool Fatiana and Tasneem Elahi Gujjar were detained in the Sargodha Road police station.

The arrests were made during an operation against the PPP leaders and activists to stop them from attending the reception meeting of Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad.
