ISLAMABAD, Dec 22: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has decided to provide diagnostic and clinical research facility at Dr Panjwani Centre for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD) of International Centre for Chemical Sciences, University of Karachi.

In this regard, the commission has approved a scheme worth Rs25 million, said an official statement. Establishment of a diagnostic and clinical research facility would serve three purposes. It would provide adequate number of clinical samples assisting in turn to run various ongoing research projects unhindered.

It will act as a focal point where newly developed diagnostic protocols can be tested on real life situation, it added. Thirdly, the rare diagnostic tests not commonly performed in other clinical laboratories would be targeted, thus providing invaluable service to the community.
