Published December 18, 2004

RAWALPINDI, Dec 17: A Pakistan People's Party (PPP) leader on Friday said whenever the party came into power, it would expose and punish those responsible for keeping Asif Ali Zardari in illegal detention for more than eight years.

"Asif Zardari remained in jail for more than eight years. The government used every trick to make him toe their line but failed.

He did not bow to them and was at last exonerated from all charges," said Agha Riazul Islam while speaking to the media persons at the PPP Secretariat at Rabia Manzil. Others present on the occasion included Sultan Mehmood Qazi, Khalid Naeem Qureshi, Rashid Munir, Raja Mushtaq, Sheikh Hanif and Haji Zafar.
