GUJRANWALA, Dec 16: A large of people are facing a great deal of inconvenience because of the franchized bus service launched by the provincial government while many have been rendered jobless due to the monopoly of bus owners.

This was said by Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal MNA Maulana Qazi Hamidullah while speaking at a news conference here on Thursday. He alleged that the franchized bus owners and their drivers were enjoying the support of the transport department and the Regional Transport Authority.

He accused the district administration and the RTA secretary of not allowing pickups, wagons, motorcycle-rickshaws and other public transport vehicles on the GT Road to benefit the franchized bus service. Speaking on vulgarity, the MNA criticized the district administration for not taking stern action against theatre owners and producers.

DEADLINE: The Private Schools Association has announced Dec 31 deadline for accepting its demands regarding affiliation of schools with the education board.

At a news conference here on Thursday, association CE Mian Saleem Shahid said that on one hand the government was spending Rs1m on advertisements regarding promotion of education, but on the other hand it had banned the private schools' science students to appear in annual examination of secondary school certificate under the education board.

He said the government had made the process of registration and affiliation of private schools with the education board complicated giving rise to corruption chances.
