QUETTA, Dec 14: Anti-narcotics officials on Tuesday arrested a Thai woman on charge of drug smuggling before she boarded a Duabi-bound flight here on Tuesday. "The Thai woman was carrying 650 grammes of fine-quality heroin packed in capsules hidden in cosmetics," a senior official of the Anti-Narcotics Force said.

Sources said that the narcotics were found during a routine search of passengers at the airport. They said that the woman had purchased the drug during her stay in Quetta. "Efforts are being made to uncover the gang using the woman for drug smuggling."

Meanwhile, the Pishin Scouts seized more than 500 kilogrammes of hashish from the Roghani Top area near the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The Commandant of the Pishin Scouts, Col Jahanzeb, had deployed scouts personnel after being informed about the smuggling attempt. Troops intercepted donkeys that were being used for transporting the drug and recovered 510 kg of hashish.
