KOHAT: UC nazims seek road repairs

Published December 15, 2004

KOHAT, Dec 14: Union council nazims have expressed concern over the sanction of new road schemes and demanded that district governments should first repair old roads instead of going for new ones.

Participating in a discussion over the issue here on Tuesday, Lachi town nazim Fawad Khan, urban-6 naizm Mumtaz Tariq, Nauman Shah and Ghayasuddin said that the district nazim had sanctioned Rs3.7 million for pavement of streets and construction of roads in Nasrat Khel, Gumbat, Sur Gul and Urban-IV whereas old roads in the city and rural areas had not been repaired for the last four years.

In some localities, they said, roads had been dug to lay a gas supply pipeline and added that such roads should be repaired without any delay. A resolution passed at the meeting asked the district nazim to suspend orders for new constructions until dilapidated roads were repaired.
