MIRPURKHAS, May 27: A Darogha of the Irrigation Department and two members of the Abadgar Action Forum, Khipro Taluka, were injured when the henchmen of two landlords opened fire at watercourse No25L, Doso distributary, on Monday.

The members of the Abadgar Action Forum and the irrigation official paid a surprise visit to the Doso distributary where they found that water was being stolen from the watercourse with the help of illegal pipes.

As they tried to remove the illegal pipes, the armed henchmen of landlords Pir Bux and Mahiwal Mari opened fire on them, and then attacked them with axes. Darogha M. Saleem Mehar was injured by bullets, while Soomar Mehar and A. Dino Mehar had been wounded with the axes.

All three were taken to the Civil Hospital Mirpurkhas.

A case has been registered with the Phuladiyoon police.

The chairman, Abadgar Action Forum, Maghan Halepota, told newsmen that the joint struggle of irrigation officials and the Abadgar Action Forum would continue for the benefit of the tail-end growers.
