KARACHI, Dec 13: Defence Housing Authority administrator Brig Maqsood Hussain stressed the need for promoting quality education and said that education must bring a change in students' attitude and way of life.

He was addressing at an award distribution ceremony of DA Model High School, DHA Phase-VII, on Monday. He congratulated the students, who excelled and got positions in the field of academics and co-curricular activities.

Brig Maqsood said that academic excellence was prerequisite for a progressive education system. He stressed on the wholesome grooming and harmonious development of students personality to make them useful and good members of the society.

He said that desire to learn, sense of responsibility and understanding the moral values were the essential ingredients on which the edifice of successful and effective education was built.

The administrator stressed upon the monumental role that teachers could play in grooming and training students and added that teachers by influencing the mind and outlook of students in their formative stage of intellectual development could prepare an enlightened and progressive generation.

Earlier, DA Model High School principal Riffat Adeel presented the annual report of the school and highlighted its achievements in various activities. She said that the school was a premier academic institution that had the distinction of achieving excellent academic results in the Board of Secondary Education examinations this year.

She vowed to pursue the vision of excellence relentlessly and maintain the glorious academic traditions of the school. Later, the students presented national songs portraying powerful feelings of patriotism and love for the country which were highly appreciated by the audience.

At the end, Brig Maqsood distributed shields and trophies amongst the students, who excelled in various curricular and non-curricular activities. He also announced an award of Rs50,000 for the school. -APP
