DHAKA, Dec 5: Two persons died on the Ijtema ground on Sunday, raising the number of deaths over the past four days to seven. They were buried in the Tongi municipal graveyard.

The three-day Bishwa Ijtema, the second largest congregation of the Muslims after Haj, in Bangladesh ended on Sunday with 'Akheri Munajat,' (concluding prayer) joined by an estimated four million people from home and abroad.

Maulana Jobaerul Hasan of Delhi, member of the Tablighi Jamaat advisory committee and son of Maulana Enamul Hasan, former Amir of the Bishwa Tablighi Jamaat, conducted the 17-minute Munajat, seeking blessings of the Almighty Allah for the Muslims being oppressed in different parts of the world.

Bangladesh President Iajuddin Ahmed, Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, Speaker Jamiruddin Sircar, ministers, leaders and lawmakers of various political parties, diplomats of Muslim countries in Dhaka and senior civilian and military officials attended the concluding session of the annual assembly.

Acting president of the opposition Awami League party Zillur Rahman and General Secretary Abdul Jalil also attended the prayers. Over 4,500 people from over 60 countries, including Iran, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Australia, Malaysia, Brunei, the United States, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Kenya, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Singapore and Tanzania attended the congregation.
