Amjad too strong for Alamzeb

ISLAMABAD, Dec 3: Amjad Khan, bidding to make a mark in a tournament he won in 1998, on Friday moved into the qualifying round of the $65,000 Bank Alfalah Pakistan Open Squash Championship.

His victim on the second and last day of the pre-qualifying round at the Mushaf Squash Complex was Alamzeb Jnr whom he defeated 11- 7, 11-9, 11-4 in just 18 minutes. Along with Amjad, seven others advanced, among them Khalid Atlas Khan, Aaqib Hanif and Waqar Mehboob.

Khalid scored a straightforward 11-8, 11-6,11-3 victory over Adnan Khan while Aaqib also was an easy winner, dispatching Kashif Khan 11-9, 11-3, 11-5 in 20 minutes. Waqar's task was even easier as he needed only 15 minutes in knocking out Jehangir Khan Jnr 11-5, 11-1, 11-7. The two-day qualifying round is due to begin on Saturday.
