GUJRANWALA, Nov 21: Around 1,646 criminal cases have been lying pending at various police stations for investigation in the district since long.

While the charge sheets against the accused have also not been submitted to courts on account of incomplete investigation. This was mentioned in a report sent to the criminal justice committee.

As per reports, some 121 cases are lying pending at the Model Town police station, 51 at Kotwali, 88 at Dhulley, 98 at Baghbanpura, 33 at Garjakh, 94 at Sabzi Mandi, 248 at Civil Lines, 78 at People's Colony, 15 at Wazirabad (City), 14 at Sodara, 15 at Wazirabad Sadar, 40 at Ahmad Nagar, 91 at Ghakkhar Town, 41 at Alipur Chattha, 24 at Kamoki (City), 113 at Kamoki (Sadar), 17 at Eminabad, 66 at Wahando, 46 at Cantonment, 13 at Gujranwala (Sadar), 33 at Qila Dedar Singh, 60 at Ladheywala, 61 at Ferozewala, 51 at Aroop, 44 at Naushera Virkan, 56 at Tetley and 26 at Kot Ladha.

Investigating officers have to appear before courts besides performing their professional duty of patrolling at night and they cannot complete the investigation of pending cases. However, the district and sessions judge took a serious note of the situation and directed the police authority to get completed the investigation of pending cases.
