TOBA TEK SINGH, Nov 17: A committee will probe into the scam of appointment of more than 500 educators in the education department in violation of merit. This was stated here on Wednesday by Punjab Forest Minister Dr Ashfaqur Rehman.

He said the education minister has formed the committee to scrutinize the process on receiving complaints. He said he was appointed to supervise the recruitment process of the educators in Toba Tek Singh district. He claimed that during scrutiny, he found that most of the applicants have already been working as educators and they were appointed against new posts.

He said he had also found many other irregularities during appointments. This was the reason he had refused to deliver appointment letters to the educators and had complained to the minister who had set up an inquiry committee.

He said district Nazim Chaudhry Ashfaq, instead of contacting him, wrongly conveyed to Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi that he (Dr Ashfaq) was busy so he could not deliver appointment letters. On it, the chief minister allowed the Nazim to deliver the letters. Dr Rehman urged the complainants to record their statements during inquiry regarding violation of merit.
