Kuwait tells aliens to leave by Dec 31

Published November 18, 2004

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 17: Kuwait has given a deadline to illegal residents to leave the country or legalize their status, said an Amiri decree. According to amnesty granted by Amiri decree 17/59, illegal residents can leave the country at any exit point by land, sea or air during the period beginning from Nov 20, and ends on Dec 31.

It said that those illegal residents who wanted to leave the country must meet three requirements to facilitate their exit-- they should possess passports or travel documents certified by their embassies, not be on the travel ban list and be listed on the interior ministry's database. The decree said that during the amnesty period, searches would be continued to flush out those who did not want to legalize themselves or leave the country.
