PESHAWAR, Oct 29: The grade IV Government Employees Association has demanded that the government should announce an Eid allowance to help them celebrate the festival with their families.

According to a press release issued here on Friday, the association at a meeting arranged in the civil secretariat, said the employees deserved the allowance because they had not been given 15 per cent salary raise announced earlier by the government.

The meeting said that most of the employees received Rs2,800 as monthly salary which was too little. Provincial association president Javed Khalil said class IV employees were being exploited.

They should be given the special allowance on Eid to celebrate the occasion like other sections of society, he added. The meeting also demanded a reasonable raise in salaries to cope with the increasing prices.
