KHAAR: Eight killed in accidents

KHAAR, Oct 14: Eight people were killed and five others injured in three road accidents in different areas here on Thursday.

In the first accident, near Zor Bunder area, some 12km from here, a truck carrying scrap fell down from a bridge. The incident left driver Gul Badshah, helper Khan Zamin and scrap owner Hazrat Gul dead.

Eyewitnesses said the truck was trying to overtake other vehicles. In another accident, a pickup truck ran over pedestrians near Civil Colony in Khaar. Three people were killed on the spot while one died in a hospital. Four others were injured in the accident.

The dead were identified as Haq Nawaz Khan, Musafir Khan, Gul Ali and Younas Khan. The injured were taken to the Agency Headquarters Hospital where two were stated in critical condition.

In the third accident, a truck skidded off the road and fell into a ravine at Ghakhi Pass near the Afghan border. Its driver Gul Jan was killed on the spot and staffer Ahmad Jan injured.
