LAHORE: Membership of MNA suspended

Published October 15, 2004

LAHORE, Oct 14: The Election Commission has barred MNA Azhar Ahmad Yousafzai and some MPAs, including two from the Punjab, from acting as members of assemblies.

These elected representatives have failed to submit their yearly statements of assets and liabilities with the commission as required under election rules, says an EC press release.

Their membership will remain suspended until they file the statements. The release did not mention number of MPAs affected by the action. The two MPAs from Punjab are Khush Akhtar Subhani and Armughan Subhani, both brothers from Sialkot's Variyo family. Armughan is also provincial minister for power.
