HYDERABAD, Oct 13: The Sindh Hari Committee has criticized the agricultural policies of the government, saying the small farmers are being systematically eliminated.

At its central body meeting in Ghotki on Tuesday it stressed the need for reorganizing the small farmers and peasants.

The meeting, which was held under the chairmanship of Comrade Ahmed Khan Leghari, demanded that the minimum price of sugarcane should be fixed at Rs70 per 40kg, of rice at Rs400 per maund and of phutti (seed cotton) at Rs1,500 per maund.

The meeting demanded that the decision of issuing Computerized National Identity Carsds to non-Sindhis should be withdrawn and they should be issued work permits. It strongly opposed the Kalabagh dam and Thal canal projects and condemned the statement of Dr Sher Afgan Niazi against the Sindhis.

The meeting demanded that he should be disqualified as a member of the National Assembly.
