KOHAT, Oct 12: An association of nurses has demanded that the government should immediately quash an FIR registered against three staff members of the Liaquat Memorial Hospital (LMH) in a kidnapping case and order their release.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, the provincial secretary-general of the nurses' association, Razia Qureshi, expressed concern over the kidnapping of a newborn baby-girl from the LMH and said that the FIR should have been registered against the hospital administration.

She demanded dismissal of the deputy medical superintendent of the hospital. The striking nurses of the LMH resumed work late Tuesday night after assurance from MPA Syed Qalb-i-Hassan that the issue would be settled amicably.

Payo Afzal had registered an FIR with police accusing nurse Fehmeeda, helper Shamim and sweeper Sakina of kidnapping his newborn daughter from the LMH. MPA Qalb-i-Hassan while talking to reporters said that it was the duty of District Nazim Malik Asad and District Health Committee Chairman Mohammad Arif to resolve the issue.
