LAHORE: 14 Sasta bazaars in Ramazan

LAHORE, Oct 8: The City District Government will start 14 'sasta bazaars' and set up 106 fair price shops in the city for selling commodities at fixed prices during Ramazan.

The Punjab government will provide 900,000 flour bags weighing 20kg each at concesional rates. Two Sasta Bazaars will be set up in Ravi Town, one each in Aziz Bhatti and Allama Iqbal towns, three in Shalimar Town, two in Data Ganj Bakhsh Town and five in Nishtar Town.

Commodities will be sold at 28 fair price shops in Aziz Bhatti Town, 27 shops in Data Ganj Bakhsh Town, 15 in Ravi Town, 10 in Allama Iqbal Town and six in Nishtar Town.

Market committees will ensure availability of commodities at these bazaars and shops and monitor the prices through complaint cells to be established in all the bazaars. Stalls in Sasta Bazaar will be set up by the wholesalers and manufacturers. No Sasta Bazaar will be opened on any road.

The decisions were taken at a meeting held here on Friday with district Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood in the chair. He directed Wasa, Lesco and Sui Northern Gas officials to ensure uninterrupted supply of water, gas and electricity during Sehri and Iftari.

He said the City District Government would make free Sehri and Iftari arrangements at big mosques with the assistance of philanthropists. Free meals would be given to the poor at four places.

The meeting was attended by DCO Khalid Sultan, Aziz Bhatti Town Nazim Chaudhry Ashraf, Allama Iqbal Town Nazim Sardar Adil Omar, Shalimar Town Nazim Ashiq Dayal, Data Ganj Bakhsh Town Nazim Tariq Sana Bajwa, Nishtar Town Nazim Maj Rafiq Hasrat (retired) and Ravi Town Nazim Amer Munir along with CDG and town municipal administration officers.
