KASUR, Oct 6: The district government will construct 812 concrete water channels with an expenditure of Rs574 million across the district. The project will be completed in phases while the district government has already received Rs80 million for the construction of some 122 cemented water channels during the current year.

This was stated by District Nazim Rana Imtiaz Ahmad Khan while talking to newsmen here on Wednesday. Revenue and finance EDOs, farm water management district officer Manzoor Ahmad, traffic DSP, DO (colleges) and Nazims of various union councils were also present on the occasion.

The district Nazim described in detail the pace of on-going uplift schemes and future development plans in the district. He said the approval of construction of various roads, including the Ring Road, Kasur Deepalpur Road, Sehjra Road, Chunian-Wan Radha Ram Road and Aulakh Autar Road had been given. He said the construction work on these roads would be started soon.

The Punjab chief minister and governor, he said, had also approved Rs54 million for the construction of post-graduate blocks at the Government Degree College for Boys and Girls, Kasur.

The district Nazim also directed to form a committee to identify a suitable site for setting up of a residential colony for journalists in Kasur.
