JACOBABAD, Oct 6: The judicial magistrate, Mr Hifzul Rehman Memon, conducted a raid on the Saddar police station lock-up on Wednesday and recovered four illegal detainees.

The raid was conducted on the instructions of the district and session Judge, Sikandar Bhutto, on a complaint filed by Sobho Jatt. One of the four detainees was remanded immediately who was wanted in some heinous cases while three others identified as Naban Jatt, Nazeer Panhwar and Siddique Golo were released.

MINISTER: State Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Justice (Rtd) Abdul Razzaq Thaheem has said that Rs2 billion has been spent on development of the district so far.

Talking to journalists at the district nazim office here on Tuesday, he said that the devolution plan, with which the people are satisfied, has worked wonders for the country.

The minister asserted that there was democracy in the country since President Gen Pervez Musharraf himself was liberal and a democrat. The LFO and uniform were non-issues, he said and added that people were made to tolerate many things during the Zia and Ayub eras.

Later, the minister held a meeting to review development works in the district. Abdul Razzaq Thaheem urged the officials concerned to solve load-shedding and education-related problems on priority basis.

Pakistan Telecommunication Company manager informed the meeting that wireless connections were being provided in the district, for which, 2,000 lines were being extended.

The meeting was attended by Jacobabad District Nazim Shabbir Bijarani, Naib Nazim Asghar Ali Panhwar, District Coordination Officer Mir Shafqat Hussain, Dr Sohrab Sarki and Manzoor Ali Panhwar.
