LAHORE, Oct 3: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz inquired after Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi at his residence here on Sunday and condemned the recent act of terrorism in Sialkot.

The prime minister said the bomb blast in a Sialkot mosque was an attempt to disturb peace which the government would foil. Effective steps are being taken to check such incidents, he said.

He said the entire nation should concertedly fight terrorism and all attempts to create unrest in the country. The chief minister said all the departments concerned had been activated for the arrest of the culprits of the Sialkot incident.

The law enforcement agencies were coordinating with each other in tracking down the culprits. He said those involved in the incident were the enemies of Islam and Pakistan, hoping that the law enforcement agencies would soon arrest them.

Governor Khalid Maqbool was also present during the meeting. Meanwhile, Federal Industries Minister Jehangir Khan Tarin also called on the chief minister to inquire after him. They discussed industrial policy, establishment of new industrial estates and an increase in the industrial production in the province.

The chief minister said unnecessary intervention of government agencies in the affairs of industries had been eliminated through the new industrial policy. A strategy had also been adopted to protect the rights of the industrial workers.

Mr Tarin said the federal and the provincial governments were coordinating efforts to promote industrialization in the country. Reforms in the economic sector would help the country achieve progress and prosperity.
