DHAKA, Oct 3: Awami League president Sheikh Hasina has said she believes there might have been a 'force' more powerful than the country's armed forces since the army has denied that their grenade was used in the Aug 21 deadly attack on her party's rally.

"It is the duty of the army and the government to find out how and who imported those grenades and who were the people who used those. I'm concerned about the army if they are attacked by that force," Ms Hasina, the leader of opposition in parliament, said as she announced a fresh agitation programme against the BNP-led coalition government at a grand rally at Palan Maidan on Sunday.

She declared Oct 10, the day the Khaleda Zia-led four-party alliance was voted to power three years ago, a 'black day' and asked Awami League workers to enforce a dawn-to-dusk strike across the country on that day.

She rejected the report of a judicial commission, which is reported to have said that a foreign intelligence agency engineered the attack on the rally. She said the report echoed comments of the prime minister made earlier on the issue. Thousands of people greeted Ms Hasina when she reached the meeting venue at around with slogans of "Joy Bangla".
